Rateplan Support - Using Rate Plans to set multiple rates

Background

Setting different rates for one room is what we refer to as "rate-plans". Not all channels support Rate Plans (like Hostelworld, Hostelbookers, and most other hostel-based channels).  Other channels do support Rate Plans (like Agoda, booking.com , Expedia and other hotel-based channels).

Note: For informaton on how to set booking.com rate plans, please follow this article instead:

Booking.com - Using Rate Plans to set multiple rates

For all other channels (Expedia, Agoda, etc), please continue reading below.

How Rate Plans work with myallocator

Myallocator sets the "base" or "default" rate of the room in question.  From there, when your channel account is setup properly, you can have various rates that are derived from that base rate that we set.

When setting base rates, we recommend that you set the lowest occupancy rate for the room, as most channels can only derive "up" from the Base Rate (rather than deriving down).

Setting Occupancy Rates

If you use different rates for different occupancies, we recommend that you set the Full occupancy rate for the room, as most channels can only derive "down" from the Base Rate (rather than deriving up).

Occupancy Rates Example

  • 4 Person Room
  • Base Rate (full rate) set in Myallocator:  100
    • This is the rate you set on the "Availability" page for the 4 Person room
  • In the channel, you can have the following rates derived and displayed to your customers:
    • 4 People:  Base rate (no change)
    • 3 People:  Base Rate - 10
    • 2 People:  Base Rate - 25
    • 1 Person:  Base Rate - 40
    • Non-Refundable:  Base rate + 15%
    • Early Booker:  Base rate + 10%
    • High Season (date specific):  Base rate + 25%
    • Etc.

These are just examples, and the values you set are completely up to you.

Rate Packages and Promotions

You can also setup rate packages and promotions (such as Early Booker, Non Refundable, etc):

  • Family Room
  • Base Rate set in Myallocator:  100
    • This is the rate you set on the "Availability" page for the Family room
  • In the channel, you can have the following rates derived and displayed to your customers:
    • Non-Refundable:  Base rate - 15%
    • Early Booker:  Base rate - 10%
    • High Season (date specific):  Base rate + 25%
    • Etc.

These are just examples, and the values you set are completely up to you.

Next Steps: Setup your Rate Plans/Packages in the Channel

To setup Occupancy and/or Rate Packages in your channel, please follow the steps below

Note:  In order to setup Rate Plans, you will need assistance from your channel account manager.

  1. Contact your channel account manager (NOT the channel support team), and ask him/her to setup a Rate Plan that is derived from the Myallocator "Default" rate.
  2. This step must be completed by your channel account manager only - Myallocator is unable to set these up in your channel's extranet.
  3. Once the Derived rateplan is setup properly, Myallocator will manage your Standard/Default/Base rateplan, and any other rateplans that you have setup will be derived from those rates.
